Sand Hall

Sandhalle

The sand hall is located in the dolomite of the white jurassic limestone at a depth of 25 m. As a compound of calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate it is quite porous, as can be seen distinctly in the ceiling of the hall.

Beneath a depth of 28 m the rock appears more compact. Here, the dolomite gives way to pure jurassic limestone, i.e. pure calcium carbonate.
