Via the wet shaft we reenter the system of passages leading to the north east.
Here it consists of Saxon Switzerland (Sächsische Schweiz) behind the iron gate and the sea urchin gallery,
through which the tour continues.
In the wet shaft a concentration of stalactites is found hanging from the ceiling and walls. Some of these have been determined as being up to 24,000 years old.
In the sea urchin gallery stalactites are to be found as old as 200,000 years. This gallery, originally almost completely filled with mud, was dug out between 1973 and 1975 and thus made accessible to the public.
