The small chamber 55m beneath the surface is the deepest point of the cave accessible to the public. Further shafts however, reach a depth of 80m.

Seepage water accumulating in the area around the cave flows southwards to the second largest karst well of the Swabian Alb, the 10 km distant Blautopf near Blaubeuren. Dye tests have proved a flow rate of 300m per hour, the water requiring 36 hours to reach its destination.
